Katie + Steve are a delightfully cute couple, with an adorable family! We were so privileged to spend the last Saturday in May with the two of them, and all their loved ones, in cottage country. This is their wedding story.
PREPARATION
We started the day at Hidden Valley Resort, a tranquil treasure nestled in the woods of Muskoka, ON. Both, the bride and groom, were getting ready in their respective suites at the resort. We popped in to see Katie and the ladies, as they were finishing their hair, then trotted downstairs to hang out with the guys as they were, simultaneously, getting dressed and watching golf. Steve slipped into his multi-coloured socks (a present from Katie) and gray jacket, then stepped outside for a few photos.
We headed back upstairs to see Katie. She was just getting last minute make-up applied, and was ready to get into her dress … when there was a knock on the door. A letter had arrived … from Steve! Katie read a sweet poem from her husband-to-be, and her Mom and bridesmaids reminisced on the beginnings of their love story! It was such a great moment and we are so happy to have been there to capture it! One of the reasons, we love what we do!
Katie, with the help of her Mom, dressed in her lovely, strapless, flowing gown with a sparkling sash around the waist. She was a vision of beauty!
CEREMONY
The ceremony took place fifteen minutes away from the resort at Saint Mary of the Assumption Parish located in downtown Huntsville, ON. Friends and family gathered in the beautiful, stained glass sanctuary to witness the marriage of two best friends. The mothers were all smiles, as they were led to their seats. Katie + Steve, both, could hardly fight back the tears, as they anxiously approached one another, to join together as husband and wife. The couple said their vows, exchanged rings, kissed and happily walked down the aisle hand-in-hand as newlyweds.
CREATIVE SESSION
The creative photo session took place, just down the hill from the church, on the dock in Huntsville. It was a gorgeous day! The weather was a perfect match to the stunning, sun-kissed dresses of the bridesmaids. You couldn’t help but smile as you looked at the bridal party. Everyone was having a great time! Such a wonderful group of friends.
After spending a few moments by the water, the bridal party hopped in the limo to travel to the reception venue for cocktail hour. On the way to the final destination for the night, we paused for some photos next to a rocky constructed dwelling on property, a golf hole and a grassy knoll.
RECEPTION
Let the party begin! The reception was held at the Muskoka Grandview Resort, a gorgeous golf club getaway, in Muskoka, ON. Cocktail hour was in full effect, when we arrived. Guests were on the balcony and in the lounge, mingling, laughing and dining on delicious snacks from the kitchen. The room looked incredible! Katie and her Dad, Big Jim, did an amazing job on the details. Once cocktail hour was over, the emcees started the festivities for the night with a litany and fun house rules (if you receive or send a text, you have to come to the microphone and sing it for the whole room to hear!). The evening included hilarious and heart-felt speeches, with a number of great stories about the couple and songs of love by friends and family.
The über-talented Jeff Rogers serenaded the couple for their first dance, as well as the Father-Daughter dance. Wow! Can he sing!!!! Steve and his Mom, even, busted a move on the dance floor with a choreographed routine. We had to share this dance on the blog! As you can see, it was a fun evening!

What amazing pictures and videography. The Darlington team was amazing at the wedding. They were quick and inobtrusive but captured the essence of both the serious and fun parts of this wedding.
