Maria + Cliff | Wedding Photography in Barrie, ON
Several years ago, we got the chance to film the wedding of John + Julie. A few years later, we received an email from John’s sister, Maria, asking if we would be available to capture her winter wedding. We immediately said, “Yes!” We were so excited to have the opportunity to spend the day with Maria + Cliff, their adorable children and their incredible families. This is their wedding story.
PREPARATION
We arrived at the Monte Carlo Inn in Barrie, ON on Saturday afternoon to meet up with Cliff and the guys. Maria’s dad sat nearby in a lounge chair watching television, while Cliff and his best man struggled with their ties. Cliff, then, slipped on his jacket and shoes. He was ready to go!
Maria’s parent’s home was buzzing with excitement, as everyone prepared for the ceremony. Riley and Colson hung out with their cousin, and listened to children’s songs. Maria got into her gorgeous, satin gown. She looked lovely! After an enthusiastic reveal to her family (Maria! Maria! Maria!) led by sister, Gennie, she gathered her things and everyone headed to the golf course.
CREATIVE SESSION + CEREMONY
We made our way to the Innisbrook Golf Course in Barrie, ON for their first look. Maria + Cliff shared a sweet moment, then it was time to brave the elements with the bridal party for portraits on this ice cold day. The guests began to arrive, and it was time to start the ceremony.
Maria + Cliff had an intimate ceremony, in the upstairs hall, among their family and friends. They professed their love for one another, exchanged rings, kissed and were pronounced husband and wife. They bounded up the aisle, completely overjoyed, to be married at last.
RECEPTION
The guests stayed upstairs, enjoying drinks and appetizers, while we headed downstairs for family portraits. Each table was graced with snowflake-decorated, lantern centrepieces and homemade hot chocolate (with marshmallows!) party favours. People began making their way down the spiral staircase, in anticipation for dinner and the grand entrance.
Once all the guests were seated, the emcee announced the bridal party and explained the kissing game (you have to sing a “Backstreet Song” if you want them to kiss). Maria + Cliff entered the room hand-in-hand, arms raised, as the room cheered. The couple joined their daughter and son at the head table set for the family of four. Buffet dinner and dessert was served, then it was time for speeches.
People laughed at the amusing anecdotes told by Maria’s maid of honour and family members. Maria + Cliff thanked their loved ones for being a part of their wedding day. And after the traditional cutting of the cake, the couple danced to a pop classic. Parent dances followed, then it was time for a family dance with Maria, Cliff and the kids to “Muffin Man.” It was the cutest dance ever! The entire room clapped along and joined in the fun! Everyone had a great time!
Thank you, Maria + Cliff, for allowing us to capture this special moment in your lives. We wish you and your family all the best!
