Wedding Photography Fusion at Heintzman House in Thornhill

Adesina + Jennifer | Wedding Photography in Thornhill, ON

On a crisp, October afternoon, we arrived at Heintzman House in Thornhill, ON to capture the blessed union of Adesina (Shino) + Jenny.  Heintzman House, with it’s majestic grandeur, is a colonial style home that is immersed with character. As we entered, we were, quickly, greeted with a warm welcome from Jenny and her mother.

As many hands worked to fill the home with family photos and heirlooms, Jenny and her bridesmaids got ready for the special day in the upstairs suite. Jenny received a long-distance phone call from Adesina’s father in Nigeria, who was unable to attend the wedding. It was beautiful moment, as Shino’s father prayed over her, and asked for the Lord’s blessing upon his son and new daughter-in-law.
 




After dressing, and presenting gifts to her bridesmaids (jewels and shawls to help brave the cold weather), Jenny shared a few smiles and tears with her mom. Her dad joined the ladies and led a group prayer. They were ready! 









Word arrived that Shino had entered the home. Excitement was really starting to build now! We met Adesina, and his groomsmen, in a room across the hall, and were able to capture some fun moments with them before heading down the grand staircase for the ceremony.


 




Guests began to arrive. A colourful mix of Canadians, Americans and Nigerians entered the building. It was a beautiful picture of unity found in Christ — a love that extends beyond colour and culture.  As guests were seated, melodic notes of cello and guitar filled the space. 

The time had come, Adesina stood before his friends and family to wait for his bride.  “Canon in D” began to play. Jenny came through the doors, escorted by her father, adorned with a stunning beaded gown. Anyone looking at Shino knew that he was lost in his bride. It was as if no one else but Jenny was in the room. Scriptures were read from Proverbs 3 and 1 Corinthians 13, encouraging the couple to commit their ways to the Lord and proclaiming that true love endures all things. True love never fails.







Adesina + Jenny shared their heart-felt, hand-written vows. They both expressed how their relationship was an answer to prayer. They professed their commitment and intention to remain faithful to one another and Christ. To grow together in love, and grow closer to God.  They both said a very confident, “I do!” 

Jenny’s sister, Christina, sang over the couple (accompanied by violin, cello and guitar), as they took communion together. The whole ceremony was a picture of Christ and His bride (the church). The ceremony ended with a kiss, and the painting of a unity canvas. The cross. It was official! Two became one and they were pronounced husband and wife! 



Guests stayed inside by the cozy fireplace enjoying appetizers, while, we took the newlyweds outside, and braved the cold for the creative session. We had a lot of fun! Adesina even held one of our cameras and filmed a video clip of his new wife. Although the temperature was icy, the warmth of family, community and love was far greater than the fleeting chill of the windy weather.













The newlyweds were greeted at the reception, and proceeded to the dance floor to share their first dance. This special dance was followed by a very touching father-daughter dance. Yet another beautiful, tender moment of the day. Not a dry eye remained in the house, as Jenny’s dad looked lovingly upon his little girl. He gave his daughter a warm hug, and they sat down to enjoy the rest of the evening.











The night was filled with beautiful speeches telling the incredible love story of this couple and their strong faith. Upon hearing the last toast, Adesina + Jenny sneaked upstairs to change into hand-made Nigerian outfits (each piece of clothing the couple wore was cut from the same cloth). They re-entered the party in African attire and surprised all the guests with a traditional Nigerian dance. It was a spirit-filled evening complete with laughter, happy tears, great food and fun times.

Thank you Adesina and Jenny for allowing us to capture your wedding. Today two families, two cultures and two people became one!
