What a sweet couple! Allison + Josh are an absolute pleasure to be around. Last September, we were able to spend a couple of hours with them during their Barrie engagement session and we could hardly wait for their wedding! Fast forward to nearly a year later … the main event! It was an honour to spend the day with the two of them and their incredible loved ones! This is their wedding story.

PREPARATION
We drove over to Allison’s parents’ houses for preparation. As we waited for Josh to arrive, we traveled a few blocks down to visit Allison’s location to get some portraits of the dress and details. The door opened and in walked the radiant bride-to-be fresh from the salon. Allison opened a gift from Josh and spent some time with her family before slipping into her gorgeous Sophia Tolli backless gown. A few houses down, Josh was putting on his boutineer (with the help of his father) and hanging out with his parents and groomsmen. Once Allison emerged from her room to greet her proud father and step-father, it was time for the reading of the cards. Allison + Josh had a unique idea to have a “non-first look” on the balcony. They would stand on opposite sides of the wall and read their cards from one another–still not seeing the other until the walk down the aisle. They held hands, feeling the others’ presence, connecting without sight. It was a sweet moment.

CEREMONY
What is a ceremony? A ceremony is a formal event performed on a special occasion. A ceremony is a time when friends and family gather together to celebrate the love of two people who want to make a life-long commitment to one another. These definitions sum up the beauty and tenderness of Allison + Josh’s wedding ceremony. Allison was escorted down the aisle by her father and step-father to meet Josh. He could barely contain his excitement, as she approached the arbor! Her brother-in-law officiated, and provided sage words of wisdom (as well as humorous anecdotes) for Allison + Josh. They chose to express how much they love each other by sharing heart-felt, hand-written vows with the exchange of rings. Everyone cheered (even Josh kicked his leg in the air) as the two kissed and were pronounced husband and wife!

CREATIVE SESSION
We captured family photos on the lawn, while guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the back deck of the country club. We spent some fun moments with the bridal party before sending them inside to mingle with the crowd. Then, Allison + Josh hopped in a golf cart, and we headed down the hill for some beautiful portraits under the shade tree near the green.

RECEPTION
Allison + Josh were announced into the room to shouts of joy! Dinner commenced, as toasts filled with laughter and tears were sprinkled throughout the courses. Once Allison + Josh thanked their guests, they headed to the cake table for the ceremonial cutting of the cake. The topper was a hand-designed sketch on wood by Allison from one of their engagement portraits! Allison + Josh graced the dance floor with their first dance, followed by special parent dances, the bouquet and garter toss. The formal events were now complete! Time to party!!!
