Engagement Session Tips
Congratulations!! You’re engaged!! Now what?
Time to hop on the wedding train, full steam ahead, and start planning! One important element that is often overlooked in the preliminary stages is engagement photos. Why is this session so essential?
Engagement sessions give you, the bride and groom to be, the opportunity to get acquainted with the photographer you’ve chosen to capture your special occasion. You are introduced to your wedding photographer’s shooting, creative and communicative style. It’s a relaxed environment, where you can ask questions and increase your comfort level in front of the camera. You get to really express yourself and it gives your photographer the chance to learn more about your relationship. The more a photographer knows about you, the better the visual story they can present. It is an ideal situation for everyone involved.
Want some tips on how to ensure an awesome engagement session?
1. Wear comfortable clothing that exudes confidence.
2. Bring several outfit options for variety.
3. Get your hair styled a few days before the session for a more natural look.
4. Ladies, if you love makeup, bring it!
5. Be prepared to laugh a lot and have fun!
We, generally, photograph our engagement sessions next to our studio. We are situated beside the TransCanada Trail in Barrie and it provides a gorgeous, natural background for engagement sessions. However, if you have an idea that is unique to you, we love to showcase new locations. In fact, some of our best-loved sessions have taken place at urban settings and family farms.
We have some pretty incredible weddings coming up this season. All our couples are remarkable people and we can’t wait to share in their joyous day. Over the past year we’ve been fortunate enough to get to know some of them a little better through their engagement sessions. Here a few of our favourites…
I am ecstatic about our session with you at the end of the month…Every time I look at all the beautiful work you do, I get so excited that I will also have beautiful shots of Brian and I. Thank you again
I completely agree with Jen! (just read the blog again!!) I went with you two because as a loving couple, you understand other loving couples, and help us show that love to the camera. I can be a little camera shy due to my self consciousness in weight, but you both just made me feel so confident. I have told quite a few people about how you both work together and how fun you are, and they said if they get married, they want you two :).
Can’t wait for October!!!
Shannon,
We had such a great time with you and Jeff that day, and are so excited about your upcoming wedding. Thank you so much for this comment and your kind words. It really means a lot to us! See you soon!
