We met Marie-Ève + Jean-François at Balzac’s Coffee in The Distillery District located in Toronto last September. We instantly liked them. They live in Ottawa, but wanted to plan an out-of-town wedding, so they chose the Thompson Landry Gallery in The Distillery District as the setting for their wedding day.
Marie-Ève + Jean-François speak French and chose to have an entirely French-speaking wedding. Paul’s only French language comprehension pertains to ordering food. Me, I chose to learn Russian as a second language in the States, instead, so I have little to no French knowledge.
Countless people inquired how we would manage to understand what was going on, with our basic knowledge of French. But that’s what’s so beautiful about the language. I mean, French is globally recognized as the “language of love,” and it’s truly beautiful. We found that is such an expressive language that you can capture the sentiment, even when you don’t speak the language.
We started the day at The Cambridge Suites Hotel for preparation moments, then headed off to The Distillery District for their first look.
While shooting their creative session, Marie-Ève + Jean-François were approached by representatives for a street interview on an upcoming OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) show to be aired later this year. The show was appropriately entitled “Happiness is..” Wow! We couldn’t even imagine a more romantic couple to receive the opportunity to share their love story.
After the interview, we all went inside for their ceremony and reception at the stunning Thompson Landry Gallery. With its contemporary Quebec artwork and historic architecture, it was a gorgeous backdrop to this wonderful event.
Marie-Ève + Jean-François are so in love. What a perfect day! Meilleurs Voeux!

One of the most beautiful things I’ve seen. I cried all over again. The video is beautiful, and the most remarkable part is that it was that beautiful in reality, in person. Incredible that the real emotions of that day could be so accurately captured and depicted in this video.

Je suis une amie de toujours de ta mère, depuis notre toute jeune enfance, nous nous sommes perdues de vue et retrouvées.
